We have spoken to Elana regularly who is EXHAUSTED! They have them running like lunatics but she is having a "great" time. They have seen most of the major sites including the Wall, Yad Vashem, Masada, and the Dead Sea, and have been out until 1o and 11 at night before starting over at 6:15am for practice the next day. A few days of relaxation are on tap now as they gear up for the games to start on Monday. Thank God for Shabbat! First day of competition is Tuesday.
Where's Waldo? Maccabi USA has posted hundreds of pictures at http://www.maccabiusa.com/. There is a link on the main banner at the top of the page next to the pictures (It says "18th Games Photos now available"). Elana is in exactly 4. I only see her in two, but Abby says she's in the background of some of the Bat Mitzvah ceremony group shots. Anyone who finds her in any other shots wins a prize! The two clear shots are in the posed team pictures under "open sports". You can then click on the junior girls gymnastics to see her and the others in their competition leotards.
We leave in two days to join her! I'll have pictures and video once we get there. Stay tuned.
Welcome friends and family!
Abby and I are so proud of Elana and thought we could use this blog to share information about her Maccabiah experience. I will post news as we get it about the US Team, the opening ceremonies, television coverage, and the gymnatics events specifically. We can then use this site to provide results, pictures and hopefully even video from Isreal in real time when we get there. Enjoy!
